Nature of Work
This is a part-time position for the Department of Parks and Recreation. An employee in this position is
responsible for instructing and organizing tennis clinics and tournaments throughout the City; planning,
organizing and supervising City wide tennis activities; assisting in the scheduling of weekly tennis programs;
assisting in the supervision and management of the recreation facility, including the issuing of tennis
membership cards or permits and the collection of fees; promoting and supervising all tennis events and
tournaments sponsored by the City of Miami; observing and analyzing player performance and instructs them in
game strategies and techniques; providing information on the general rules of the games, and methods of
keeping score and performing related duties as required. Supervision will be received from the Parks and
Recreation Director or his/her designee through oral and written instructions. However, the exercise of
independent judgment is expected within the limits of professional ability and assigned authority.

Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma or its equivalent and four (4) experience as a tennis professional or instructor. United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) or United States Professional Teaching Association (USPTA) certificate is preferred

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates will be subject to a Level II background screening.

  • An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, OR
