DESCRIPTION
The Analytical Writing Program at the University of California, San Diego, oversees student fulfillment of the Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR) and offers other related courses. The program conducts the on-campus Writing Placement Process (WPP), coordinates the offering of analytical writing courses, and evaluates student achievement through portfolio assessment. As a campus–wide program, the Analytical Writing Program coordinates its activities with the Office of Admissions and Registrar, the undergraduate writing programs, and the college offices of advising. The Analytical Writing Program is housed in the Institute of Arts and Humanities.
Reporting to the Business Officer and working under direction from the Faculty Director, Associate Director and Program Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of activities of the Analytical Writing Program, which includes about 1,500 students and 30 instructors. Other responsibilities include keeping detailed and accurate student records in spreadsheets, interacting with a diverse population using excellent customer service, and assisting with office administration. Screens and answers questions from students, staff and faculty in person, by phone and by e-mail. Communicates with students about ELWR and enrollment policies. Schedules students for writing placement tests and communicates test results. Tracks student enrollment and academic progress. Schedules courses and preauthorizes students. Provides administrative and facilities support to the program, including key distribution, door signs, room reservations, website updates and other tasks as needed. Enters student mentor hires in UCPath payroll system and assists with onboarding. Serves as liaison with Admissions, Registrar, Colleges, Office for Students of Disabilities and other campus offices on behalf of the program.
Overtime and weekends may be required occasionally, with notice.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience drafting a schedule of classes, managing student enrollment, or working in a student-centered environment.
- Demonstrated ability to extract, compile, analyze and present various financial/resource data such as enrollment history, grades, trends and projections.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of computer applications and technologies including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and web Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Graduation from college and two years of related experience; or an equivalentcombination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Demonstrated skills in communicating clearly and effectively with a broad variety of people using excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, discretion, and flexibility with individuals of diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
- Skill in prioritizing workload and performing under pressure to meet deadlines with frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrated ability to set goals and objectives, utilize available resources, and establish efficient procedures.
- Skill in proofreading and editing various types of documents and correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, use independent judgment in problem-solving and decision-making matters, and initiate appropriate actions.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $37,900 – $85,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $18.15 – $40.85
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
