Position Summary:

The Institute for Energy and the Environment (IEE) at Vermont Law and Graduate School (VLGS) leads the nation in preparing students for the clean energy transition. Our energy law and policy program offers extensive clean energy courses, leading renewable energy experiential opportunities and research options. The IEE is a national and world resource focused on the energy policy of the future and maintains a vibrant student-staffed energy clinic, which works on legal and business models for community energy development.

The IEE seeks a Program Coordinator to work with and support the IEE’s core functions: maintaining relationships with other VLGS departments; assisting students before and after their arrival at VLGS; facilitating the smooth operation of the energy program; and facilitating communications and relationships with external organizations and constituencies. The Program Coordinator is central in establishing the program’s highly collaborative, collegial environment, reports to the Director of the IEE, while working closely with both students and faculty in the energy program.

Essential Functions and Principal Accountabilities:

  • Embrace, support and contribute to the mission of the IEE and VLGS.
  • Coordinate and support all operations of the IEE.
  • Support the planning and organizing of IEE events.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including tracking the program budget, record keeping, and providing support to faculty and fellows in the program.
  • Facilitate all communications for the IEE, including annual reports, press releases, newsletters, websites, and social media.
  • Proofread final reports and communications.
  • Assist with fundraising, grant management and reporting.
  • Collaborate and represent the IEE with other departments and programs within VLGS, with current and prospective students, partner organizations, and visiting faculty and scholars.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus minimum 2-4 years relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to take on projects with minimal supervision and track and meet deadlines.
  • Good writing, grammar, and editing skills.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people (including staff, faculty, students, and the public) in a variety of situations and as part of a collaborative team.
  • An interest in environmental and energy issues, as well as a familiarity with an academic setting.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines and reorganize under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Must be able to work legally within the United States without sponsorship.
  • Physical ability to perform all essential functions of the job with or without basic accommodations.
