Job Summary
Performs professional work coordinating various programs supporting Domestic Animal Services operations.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates operational programs in support of Division or Department objectives; participates in the planning, development, and coordination of programs and/or special events.
- Participates in the promotion, explanation and interpretation of public outreach objectives, benefits and programs; develops and establishes appropriate communications and manages a proactive approach to information dissemination to County staff and/or the public.
- Coordinates the activities of assigned support, administrative and office functions; reviews and processes a variety of internal and external reports, forms, invoices, contracts and related documents; prepares related statistical summaries and narrative reports.
- Receives and responds to requests, inquiries and complaints from the public, other jurisdictions and other County Divisions, Departments and sections; prepares and proofreads correspondence for format, accuracy and completeness; coordinates activities with and provides information to outside contractors and service providers.
- Summarizes and assembles reports and information, trend analysis and prepares information releases; develops, plans, and drafts various Department documents, reports, projects related material.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties for the program; assist in the preparation of program budget development documents, tracks expenditures and revenues.
- Assesses potential site locations for special events, recreational activities and determines potential use.
- Assists the Program Manager in supervision and training.
As assigned to Domestic Animal Services:
- Responsible for coordinating animal shelter functions related to animal adoptions, pet placement partners, marketing, and outreach.
- Assist the public, volunteers, and fosters with general inquiries.
- Creates marketing and promotional campaigns to increase animal adoption awareness and to build pet placement partnerships; coordinates special events at the shelter and offsite.
- Implements plans to grow and increase our adoption and pet placement partner programs.
- Performs specialized, technical, and professional work for print, video, social media and/or television presentation purposes.
- Develops marketing, monitors, and evaluates programs, adoptions, pet placement partners, fundraising and special events.
- Communicates with agencies verbally and in written form to promote adoption, pet placement partners, special events, and fundraising.
- Monitors and follows up on leads that can result in increased, revenue, adoptions and/or pet placement.
- Maintains website and social media outlets and creates additional features.
- Designs and prepares departmental informational flyers and promotional materials.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree required.
- Three (3) years of related experience.
- Candidates without a degree should possess two (2) additional years of related experience.
- Fingerprinting required.

- Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
