Job Description:
The Director will provide leadership for the University of Florida’s inaugural Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) Program, which is housed within the Center for Precollegiate Education and Training (CPET). The UBMS Director will report to the Director of Community Engagement & Outreach (CEO), PreK-12 and oversee the daily delivery of program services to eligible participants to ensure successful completion of high school and preparation and persistence through postsecondary education. The UBMS Director will work collaboratively with program staff, target school personnel, parents, and campus and community partners to achieve the program’s objectives.
The primary responsibilities of this position include oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of the UBMS project. The incumbent will manage and monitor the program budget, as well as hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff. They will establish relationships with key stakeholders and partners to facilitate success for participants and ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and guidelines.
This position oversees the development and delivery of quality UBMS curricula (academic year and summer) and assist with instruction and administration of courses, as needed.
The successful candidate will collect, analyze, and interpret student performance data to inform programming decisions and improve program efficacy in accordance with TRIO reporting requirements and in collaboration with program staff. They will prepare and submit the Annual Performance Report (APR) for the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and gather, coordinate, and prepare data for other reports requested by the CEDO Director.
Expected Salary:
$52,500 – $68,238 annually; commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or higher in education (preferably math, science, or engineering), counseling education, higher education, or a related field with a minimum (3) three years of experience or any acceptable combination of education and experience
- Experience working with low-income and/or first-generation students
- Experience writing and managing federal grants
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Supervisory experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment
- Experience with data analysis and management using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) and statistical applications
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Experience with designing, managing, and/or implementing Upward Bound Math and Science, Upward Bound, or similar programs.
