Job Summary
Position is responsible for the development and continuing management of-integrated Crisis Management, Emergency Response, General Office Life Safety plans and Business Continuity Planning for labor relations workforce stoppages for PSEG. Also assists with the support of the Business Continuity Program Position, an internal SME, and acts as a consultant to the business on the subject working to ensure the company can effectively respond to any crisis or business interruption, while incurring minimal interruption of its critical business functions.
Develop and maintain PSEG’s Crisis Management and Emergency Response Practices. Guides client implementation of all aspects of the Crisis Management Program and Emergency Response vis-a-vie the Emergency Planning Working Group. Position supports and provides guidance to PSEG’s operating units. Maintains and exercises the Life Safety Evacuation Plan for the General Office, as warranted, coordinates evacuation drills, conducts post mortem reviews for after action reports. Coordinates the attestation and sign-offs for the Life Safety Program in the General Office. Attends and observes critical plan drills and exercises scheduled by BU’s managers. Reports quarterly on the Company’s state of readiness to senior management and reported to the BIM Committee. Interfaces with federal, state, county and local external response agencies and contingency planning organizations.
Functions as a subject matter expert on matters relating to Crisis Management. Provides professional, specialized skills, Executive Crisis Management (ECM), Emergency Response and Life Safety planning, problem analysis / resolution, on a Company level. Supports executive Crisis Management team members with dedicated training aimed at helping members understanding their roles and responsibilities; capitalizes on proactive opportunities to refine Life Safety Evacuation response processes, plans and drills in the General Office; shares learning from drills and industry practitioners; supports Business Continuity opportunities to refine processes; reviews and tracks compliance with OSHA’s recommended 20:1 ratio of occupants to Fire Wardens; makes recommendations when out of compliance. Works with Headquarter Services, Facilities Management and property owner on General Office drills. Supports Safety Act documentation refresh on periodic basis. Participates in Family Preparedness Working Group quarterly meetings. Participates in quarterly BIM Committee meetings. Presents status of Life Safety, Emergency Preparedness, and Crisis Management at the BIM Committee/Executive Team Year End Summary Report. Coordinates Contingency planning for labor relations workforce stoppages. Participates in Security incident review and participates in On-Duty-Officer (ODO) 24/7 On-call process. Support other Business Unit requests for Crisis Management updates, General Office Life Safety Plans, Emergency Response Working Group information as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing corporate crisis management program including developing and maintaining practices, guidelines, exercises, and state of readiness for Senior Executive Team (SET) and executive managers on the Executive Crisis Management Team
- Responsible for planning and testing Life Safety and other security emergency plans, ensuring effectiveness as well as employee engagement, and ongoing maintenance of completed plans
- Position oversees the Contingency Planning (Budget, Essential Processes evaluation, pool of workforce to leverage, security for labor relations workforce stoppages
- Responsible for the management and development of a standardized corporate approach to Crisis Management. Life Safety and Emergency Response/Emergency Planning Working Group Planning. This will include, detailed planning requirements definition and strategy development
- Responsible for the alignment of the Business Interruption Management Policy and the Crisis Management program, Life Safety and Emergency Response Planning to enhance PSEG’s ability to effectively respond and in the aftermath of an unplanned disruption
- Responsible for quarterly reviews of PSEG’s Crisis Management maintain a list of active Emergency Operations Centers (i.e. Utility EOC, Nuclear Command Centers) and collaborative space (IT Tech room, GO Plaza corroboration space)
Job Specific Qualifications
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or related field
- 8 years’ relevant experience with at least 3 years in disaster recovery/business continuity planning
- Certified Business Continuity Professional or equivalent certification
- Knowledge of command and control principles, including Incident Command System (ICS) (certification)
- Experience with Microsoft Office products; Experience with business continuity software and emergency notifications systems; Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills, Driver’s license
- Off hours 24/7 support required, Strong analytical skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
- Team player, Project planning and leadership qualities
- Ability to effectively communicate with senior executives and government officials
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Business, or related field.
- 10 years’ experience in disaster recovery/business continuity planning.
- Certification in crisis management
- Certification in Disaster Recovery Planning, Emergency Infrastructure Preparedness or comparable designation
