Program Manager, Internal and External Engagement – Innovation + Society

The Innovation and Society team, in the Technology for Fundamental Rights (TFR) organization in Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) is looking for a Program Manager to help lead internal and external engagements. We are in a pivotal moment where next generation AI and advances in other digital technologies are transforming everything from the way we work to what we know and understand about the world around us. As we work to protect people’s fundamental rights and create a future for everyone, we must also work to address the societal challenges related to this technology. To meet this moment and ensure technological innovation protects fundamental rights, the Innovation and Society team works to advance racial equity and responsible deployment of technology in the justice system, and engages across academia to strengthen the research ecosystem, foster a competitive and inclusive talent ecosystem, and promote evidence-based public policy related to AI innovation.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 3+ years experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area
    • OR 5+ years experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area.In-house counsel experience
  • 3+ years experience managing a corporate social responsibility or related program.
  • 3+ years experience working in or with a large, matrixed organization.
  • 5+ of technology-related experience, preferably engaging with racial equity and/or justice reform nonprofit partners, universities, public affairs, and/ or communications.
  • Experience presenting/meeting with diverse stakeholders including government policymakers, community leaders, nonprofits and academics in rural, suburban, and urban environments.
  • Experience with creating and implementing internal and external go-to-market strategies.
  • Ability to work across groups managing individuals both directly and indirectly
  • Experience managing contractors, agencies, and/or other third parties.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and create order out of ambiguity.
  • Communications skills (e.g., listening, written, oral, and data visualization)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment working across multiple disciplines

Corporate Social Responsibility IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 – $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 – $213,200 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead project management and rhythm of business (ROB) for recurring internal communications moments and key milestones including large quarterly multi-stakeholder meetings, quarterly internal progress reports and townhall updates, as well as annual external impact reporting.
  • Develop and execute a connected campaign strategy for storytelling across priority areas including managing a master calendar for marketing, communications, events, and more.
  • Drive team to be agile, efficient, and creative in response to planned and unanticipated inbound inequities from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring our response complements the pace of the moment and meets stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify opportunities for storytelling and engagement both internally and externally, and work cross-functionally across various stakeholders to deliver cohesive, connected stories that elevate the voices of community partners and drives programmatic objectives.
  • Own the programmatic messaging and impact narrative, define the appropriate messages for each target audience, and ensure effective engagement across key strategic audiences.
  • Build partnerships across digital channels (web, social, events, etc.) to create storytelling and demand generation opportunities that help drive programmatic outcomes and awareness.
  • Lead connected go-to-market strategy and approach for priority areas based on announcements, conferences, and other key moments to drive awareness and engagement.
  • Create, manage and distribute internal program and leadership communications to ensure transparency across internal stakeholder groups and to drive employee engagement.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly reporting that tracks engagement performance, uncovers insights that will improve performance, and track success of optimizations over time.
  • Lead storytelling across initiative while using data and insights to drive engagement opportunities. Develop and create ideas for collateral materials for use in a range of internal and external events and engagements including Town Halls and conferences.
  • Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders across partner groups including Public Affairs, marketing and communications, government affairs, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and other networks (i.e., Blacks at Microsoft [BAM]).
  • Support strategic planning around programs and initiatives within the portfolio.
  • Ensure team members can effectively leverage communications channels and assets by creating alignment with strategy and by providing governance, training and optimizations.
