Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will take a leading role in metrology department’s key business and technical activities. Role requires a broad knowledge of process and product challenges as well as characterization and measurement techniques needed to deliver performance confirmations to internal and external customers.

Other Job Responsibilities

Drive multiple special projects and programs within Corporate Metrology Dept., including:

  • Oversight and coordination of collaborative evaluations with leading suppliers of new metrology solutions
  • Oversight of service contracts to track uptime and responsiveness against requirements; define quality metrics and drive supplier improvements with them.
  • Assist in defining Global Lab Development plans and negotiate related multi tool acquisition strategies. Interface with foreign trade and logistics as needed to redeploy assets globally within Lam.
  • Coordination of enterprise SW development with involved metrology resources that will contribute to them.
  • Accurately forecast quarterly Opex expenditures including spares, services, consumables and as best as possible, contingencies; work closely with Finance business partners to prepare for quarterly reviews. Initiate routine purchase order requests consistent with plans.
  • Own one or more key metrology asset areas, maintaining their readiness and involving yourself with application requests from internal customers.
  • Act as primary interface with LEAP program management: assist in development of metrology curricula as needed, deliver in person training if required.
  • Implement Problem Solving & Decision Making (PS&DM) methodology on metrology special projects, for example: new metrology capabilities, enhancing efficiency of metrology operations, etc.
  • Define problem statements, coordinate resources and budgeting, set and track schedules, interface across business groups and vendors as necessary, host update meetings, and coordinate documentation of results and progress throughout the term of each project or program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Typically requires an MS degree with 4 years of relevant experience or a PhD degree with 1 year of experience. Preferred fields: Chemistry, Material Science, Physics, EE, ChE, CSE, ME or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A highly motivated candidate with above qualifications plus significant experience in one or more metrology techniques along with a number of successfully run development projects.

Salary and Benefits

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $96,000 – $177,000

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
