About the Agency: The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). About the Position: This position serves in Disability Determination Services (DDS). The incumbent will serve as a recruiter for the Disability Determination Services Medical Relations Team and will perform duties related to the recruitment of consultative examination providers. The incumbent will have the following responsibilities:• Identify and recruit medical and psychological professionals to perform consultative examinations for Social Security Disability claims• Assists the Medical Relations Officer (MRO) for the purpose of recruiting, training, and providing oversight of the consultative examination process.• Assists the Medical Relations Officer in attending medical conferences and other recruitment events to obtain exposure for the program and recruit providers• Conducts and assists the Medical Relations Officer with site visits for CE providers to ensure examinations areas comply with Social Security standards• Assists the MRO with soliciting consultative examination critiques from Disability Determination Consultants and provides feedback to CE providers• Assists the MRO with ensuring appropriate paperwork and documentation are completed correctly and all necessary information is in file to onboard new providers• In collaboration with the MRO, instructs providers on the consultative examination process and provides program overview description for new CE providers• Verifies credentialing and checks for exclusions for purpose of federal programs• Assesses and implements plan to address program needs based on location, specialties, and trends.
What you’ll need to be Successful: Must demonstrate the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize to complete assigned tasks. Must work collaboratively but also independently to achieve assigned goals. Must adhere to guidelines and polices set forth by the Social Security Administration. Must possess excellent communication skills and use innovative methods to assist the agency in meeting its goals. Proficiency in use of software and technology required for performance of job. Travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of related experience. Hiring agency preferred qualifications:Experience in adjudicating Social Security Disability Claims not required.
