Description
, a highly-anticipated seven-acre community space in the heart of Downtown Cary, will provide unique opportunities for citizens to connect and engage in a beautiful setting. The Downtown Cary Park team is seeking a Program Support Assistant to play a key role in organizing and implementing programs and events in this iconic space.
The Park will feature a “great lawn”, a tiered water feature, an entertainment pavilion, and a series of unique spaces or “rooms” linked by paved walking trails. Additional features include performance places, market spaces, public art incorporated into the landscape, food and beverage facilities, a children’s play area, interactive water features, a dog play area, and walkways for strolling and relaxing.
The Program Support Assistant will provide administrative support for programs and events including art exhibitions, arts and crafts classes, performances and concerts, cardio and fitness classes, book clubs, story time programs and movies. This role will collaborate with others to generate activity in the Park that will energize Downtown Cary and provide citizens with memorable experiences.
Work will be performed under the regular supervision of the Programming Supervisor.
Typical Tasks
Assists with planning and coordination of Downtown Park programs and special events;
Assists with assessing program enrollment including managing waitlists, cancelling programs and refunding customers as needed;
Schedules programming carts for arts & crafts, reading, fitness and games;
Recruits, coordinates, and manages special event volunteers;
Administers and maintains vendor applications;
Serves as the point-of-contact for programmatic and event inquiries;
Trains Activity Hosts on program and event set-up and management;
Cross-trains and serves as back-up support for Activity Hosts;
May engage in significant telephone contact with the public;
Assists with entering cases for Facilities and Grounds Team work orders;
Assists with payroll;
Assists with paying bills;
Provides general support to Programming Supervisor (returning phone calls; setting up meetings, etc.);
Assists with marketing tasks as needed;
Performs data entry and processing and maintains databases;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation and parks administration, public administration, arts administration, or a related field.
Prefers 2 years’ experience organizing public recreational and cultural programs.
