Compensation: $79,394 – $114,167 with a rich benefits package that includes profit-sharing.
Job Description Summary
This position reports to the Director, Application Programming. Under limited supervision, the Programmer III reviews, analyzes, and modifies existing programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs. The incumbent will valuate and modify complex applications programs working from detailed specifications. Additionally, the Programmer III will mentor and support the development of the Programmer levels I and II.
Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration and four (4) years experience with theoretical and practical knowledge in the field, or eight (8) or more years experience.
- Two (2) to five (5) years experience with C++ and Pascal programming languages.
- Two (2) to five (5) years experience with MSSQL and MySQL.
- Advanced knowledge of C#, LINQ, Web API, Entity Framework, WPF, MS Visual Studio, and unit testing methodologies.
- Advanced expertise of application development tools.
- Advanced knowledge of the OpenVMS operating system and associated file structure and access.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the Health Care Processing System (HCPS).
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly adaptable and able to prioritize, manage and meet competing demands and rapidly evolving events.
- Ability to convey, explain and support complex technical subject materials and concepts, both to project peers and to end users.
- Ability to function as a technical mentor to less experienced team members, peers and colleagues.
- Ability to contribute both to original software product development and to evolving software maintenance and break/fix assignments.
- Self-motivated and self-starter, with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- High degree of independent judgement.
- Internet access provided by a cable or fiber provider with at least 40 MB download and 10 MB upload speeds.
- Home router with wired Ethernet (wireless connections and hotspots are not permitted).
- A designated room for your office or steps taken to protect company information (e.g., facing computer towards wall, etc.)
- A functioning smoke detector, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit on site.
Duties And Responsibilities
Software Development
- Design, build and maintain software applications from user defined requirements.
- Review, analyze, and modify programs and systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs.
- Provide programming and documentation support for new and existing applications and systems.
- Work on both OpenVMS and Windows Server platforms.
- Adapt Western Growers software development methodologies to new situations to increase personal and team productivity.
- Mentor and support the development of Programmer levels I and II.
- Lead development project and product teams or functional groups.
Project Documentation
- Work with management and senior staff to determine needs and project requirements, including helping formulate ideas into concrete project plans.
- Correct issues uncovered by testing or customer feedback, or refer issues to appropriate individual.
- Determine hardware and software requirements for system and project creation or modification.
- Determine the impact of project or system creation or modification on other systems or projects.
- Make project recommendations based on knowledge of systems and available technology.
- Provide estimates on time requirements.
- Report all modifications, changes, and deletions of programs, systems, and data to department supervisor or director for approval prior to execution.
- Provide limited direction to the user community under the guidance of the supervisor.
- Manage time, daily tasks and objectives to accomplish department goals and objectives.
- Confer with management or development teams to prioritize needs and select solutions.

- Maintain internet speed of 40 MB download and 10 MB upload and router with wired Ethernet.
- Maintain a HIPAA compliant workstation and utilize appropriate security techniques to ensure HIPAA required protection of all confidential/protected client data.
