Candidate Specification
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, industrial management, or business
- 5+ years’ experience in project controls, project management on capital infrastructure projects
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office 365 and SharePoint
- Experience with Power BI a plus
Salary Range: $80,000 – $140,000

Job Description
Mott MacDonald is looking to appoint a project controls engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area who will assist a program management teams in developing, monitoring, and updating an integrated project control plans and schedules; monitor and forecast project costs; provide risk management as part of the risk management team. Ideally, the candidate would benefit from a civil, dam, tunneling, and/or mechanical engineering or construction background which would enable participation in technical reviews and workshops involving designer deliverables.
Cost Engineering-related duties:
- Analysis, review, and forecast, on project cost performance, including the status of committed costs against approved budgets
- Attend project and program management meetings and be prepared to provide relevant data related to project and program costs, commitments, and forecasts
- Assist in developing, supporting and implementing proper document control procedures in support of project management teams
Claims/change order negotiation support:
- Support the project team in change order administration
- Maintain a log of potential claims/change orders of the program manager
- Support negotiations of claims/change orders, working with the project/program manager.
Reporting support:
- Assist in the preparation and/or review of project reporting and dashboards related to cost, schedule, progress, contract status, and overall project controls
Other logs and data tasks that the candidate may support, this may be expanded to related tasks:
- Create and maintain Stakeholder logs
- Create and maintain real estate related logs
- Logging land acquisition information
Risk management:
- Maintenance of risk register
- Perform Monte-Carlo risk analysis
- Facilitate risk workshops
Technical review support:
- Participation in reviews aimed at verifying deliverable accurateness and completeness
- Participation in and facilitation of technical meetings with the designer and client
- Follow up and monitoring of design process
