Why does the job exist?
The Office of Tribal Liaison Project Coordinator works with the Tribal liaison to build professional knowledge and practice through communication, collaboration, and consultation with the tribes, Pueblos, and nations and other community stakeholders. This position is a subject matter expert on tribal protocols on engagement and communication methods with Tribal Leadership and Tribal Administrators. Additionally, the Project Coordinator will assist with facilitation of state mandated cultural humility training to all NM DOH staff.
How does it get done?
Plans, coordinates, and assists with day-to-day operations of the Office of Tribal Liaison including administrative activities for a defined project, as well as responsibility for program marketing, internal and external logistics and reporting. Development of effective communication methods for information exchange, completion of written reports, research and analysis of data. Monitoring program activities in relation to established program goals and objectives, report on progress, identify any challenges or deficiencies. Provide Information, guidance and technical support to colleagues, partners, and other identified stakeholders on activities related to the Office of Tribal Liaison. Organize and establish regular meetings with designated groups to foster position relationships and promote program success.

NMDOH staff, management and the Indigenous populations of New Mexico, including but not limited to the 23 sovereign nations (tribes, Pueblos, and nations).

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or Education and two (2) years of experience in a health related field. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required.
