GENERAL PURPOSE
The Project Engineer assists and supports the Field Superintendents & Project Management Team. Communicate with Clients, Foreman, & Admin Staff to push forward our landscape construction projects and are in place to help ensure that budgets are met, materials and subcontractors are in place and scheduled properly. Must be self-motivated, data & detail oriented, communicative and a team player. This position is an in-person / on-site position. Not applicable for remote work.
DAYS/HOURS
This is a full-time, salaried-exempt position, generally Monday to Friday. During the busy season (April to December) expect some weekends. December to April in the off season will be required to do snow removal. Hours are generally 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets.
- Collect and code project cost documents and continually monitor and update the budget to reflect changes in work.
- Coordinate logistics for delivery of equipment, and material, and schedule subcontractors.
- Oversee the timely submittal and completion of documentation required by the owner and agencies
- Work with foreman and superintendents to monitor all activities to insure a safe and efficient working environment for crew, subcontractors, and the public
- Assist in coordinating project equipment and manpower
- Promote good relationship fostering with owners, vendors & subcontractors.
- Assist with monthly project billings by aggregating completed tasks & working with billing team to get invoices in hands of clients.
- Assist in identification and communication surrounding potential change orders & scope outside of contract work.
- Ensure that time cards for all employees are complete and accurately reflect hours worked.
- In winter months, transition into snow captain role to run snow removal crews.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- Evaluate job margins and increase billing of change orders by 20% by year-end.
- Improve field supervisors production
- Using the company’s ERP System and available computer systems
- Improve the landscape purchase requisition process reducing errors by 30%.
- Develop a daily system to review field logs, work with management and field staff and increase accuracy and tracking to 100%.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Abilities – Motivated self-starter with demonstrated ability to work both independently and with others in a team environment.
Education -High school diploma or GED required. Construction Management degree preferred but not required. Some capacity of construction management work required, in either PE or PM roll.
Experience – Three years of construction experience in either Landscape Construction or Construction Management.
Skills – Exhibit a strong regard for organizing and prioritizing, as well as an ability to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Job may require working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain or snow.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to walk/stand on concrete for prolonged periods of time.
• Physical Strength; hand eye coordination and endurance.
• Ability to lift, pull, push up to 50+ lbs.
• Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time.
• Climbing stairs and ladders; tolerate heights up to 15 ft.
