Job Description

The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about securing research, technology, and data in Latin America from weaponization and misuse and has experience working with regional institutions (especially in Brazil) within academia, the research sector, the financial and private sector, or government.

The Project Lead will develop and manage relationships with partners, experts, and beneficiaries in Brazil and across Latin America. The Project Lead will leverage project management best practices to implement programming to build the capacity of institutions in Latin America to counter the acquisition, misuse, and proliferation of dual-use, sensitive, or weapons of mass destruction (WMD)-applicable research, data, technology, intellectual property, and talent, as well as financial transactions enabling the proliferation of WMD. Programming activities may take the form of conferences, meetings, workshops, trainings, conferences, grant-making, research competitions, email campaigns, or other activities, both in-person and virtual.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops and manages stakeholder relationships (including with current and future partners, experts, and beneficiaries) in the governmental, academic, technology, financial, and private sectors in Latin America, with an emphasis on Brazil.
  • Designs and implements projects from inception to completion within a given scope, schedule, and budget using CRDF Global’s project management best practices. This includes using project charters, work breakdown structures, statements of work, schedules, deliverables, monitoring and evaluation plans, and project budgets.
  • Develops concepts and new project ideas as part of the proposal development process and crafts proposal narratives for submission.
  • Represents CRDF Global, programs, or projects at external events.
  • Supports other programs and staff, as required
  • Travels within the U.S. and internationally as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with Latin American institutions (especially in Brazil) within academia, the research sector, the financial and private sector, or government.
  • 3+ years of work experience in fields including finance/anti-money laundering, counter-proliferation/nonproliferation, counter-terrorism, or international security.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with partner organizations (preferably within academia, the research sector, financial sector, private sector, or government) in Latin America (preferably Brazil) and key external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, collaboration platforms such as Zoom or Slack, teleconferencing/webinar platforms such as Zoom Webinar or Webex, and ability to work with and maintain more advanced databases (experience with Microsoft Project and/or Salesforce is desirable)
  • U.S. work authorization

Salary & Benefits: The base pay range for this position is $56,000 to $70,000. The determination of salaries in this job classification depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant candidate experience, job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills.
