Our Mission
The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy seeks to improve quality of life through the effective use, taxation, and stewardship of land. A nonprofit private operating foundation whose origins date to 1946, the Lincoln Institute researches and recommends creative approaches to land as a solution to economic, social, and environmental challenges. Through education, training, publications, and events, we integrate theory and practice to inform public policy decisions worldwide. With locations in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Washington, DC; Phoenix; and Beijing, we organize our work around six goals: low-carbon, climate-resilient communities and regions;efficient and equitable tax systems;reduced poverty and spatial inequality;fiscally healthy communities and regions;sustainably managed land and water resources;and functional land markets and reduced informality.
The Publications, Communications, and Learning Design department (PCLD) department advances the Lincoln Institute’s mission through two streams of activity: product creation produced by the Publications and Learning Design teams of PCLD; and communications and marketing activities that support product dissemination, as well as audience development, digital marketing, and stewardship of the Lincoln Institute brand, led by the Communications and User Experience teams of PCLD.
PCLD is undergoing an exciting period of growth, developing new products and experimenting with strategies for audience engagement and brand development. The candidate for this newly created position will orchestrate the department’s logistical priorities and plans, improve and enforce processes and guidelines, and plan human and financial resources in a dynamic environment.
This is a full-time position in Cambridge, MA at 37.5 hours/week reporting to the Chief Content Officer. Travel up to 5%.
What You’ll Do:
- Coordinate with PCLD and Program staff to develop detailed plans for monitoring and tracking the progress of PCLD projects: Establish and manage project expectations and goals, construct comprehensive project plans, define each project’s scope, and assign duties.
- Monitor departmental tasks in the Asana project management system and support work groups to ensure each project remains on track.
- Monitor PCLD budget, manage individual project budgets, and assist the Chief Content Officer with annual budget planning.
- Document PCLD’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and track continuous process improvements. Ensure that all internal and external stakeholders are aware of the SOPs and are informed of any updates.
- Maintain documentation for brand standards, publishing, and web guidelines and serve as the primary liaison to ensure that brand standards are met.
- Expand and manage a pool of consultants, freelancers, and translators who are well-versed in the Institute’s portfolio and can support project work.
- Partner with PCLD colleagues to work with other Lincoln Institute departments in need of support from PCLD. Facilitate communication flow between divisions and manage relationships between internal clients and PCLD.
- Recognize opportunities for communication and problem solving across work groups, and elevate these to the PCLD leadership as needed.
- Lead weekly departmental meetings: create agendas, manage meeting invites and attendance, facilitate meetings, and capture next steps.
- Track progress toward and report on agreed upon project and departmental goals and metrics.
What You’ll Need:
- 3+ years of experience in project management in a marketing or creative organization (publishing, advertising, design, media, public relations, or a similar environment).
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related discipline.
- 3+ years’ experience monitoring and controlling project budgets and timelines.
- Superior organizational skills and experience championing process improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and produce high quality work efficiently and with minimal oversight.
- Assertiveness to take proactive ownership of projects and meet deadlines; ability to communicate roadblocks and propose solutions.
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, be a strong self-starter, and generate ideas to solve problems.
- This position requires flexibility and the ability to thrive in an evolving environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to interface with senior management, internal stakeholders, and external partners around the world.
- High integrity and alignment with the Institute’s mission and values, including a commitment to diversity and equity.
- Flexibility in work hours to accommodate colleagues in different time zones.
What Would Nice to Have:
- PMP Certification.
- A solid understanding of the business cases, tasks, processes, and workflows in a marketing or creative department.
- Proven ability to manage assignments distributed across a group of freelance contractors and vendors.
- Experience with Asana or other project management software.
- Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus, but not required.
- Project management training and/or certification is a plus, but not required.
- Experience working with a distributed workforce is a plus.
$85,000 – $95,000 a year
Salary range is dependent on level of education, communication skills, ability to lead projects to completion, and years of experience.
