Project Manager II / Project Manager III

At Ball Aerospace’s Boulder & Broomfield locations, we develop and manufacture state of the art hardware for space-based missions, including space vehicle, bus, and payload applications. This Project Manager role will be responsible for expanding our optical manufacturing capabilities in support of the Civil Space, National Defense and Systems Engineering Support Strategic Business Units (SBU’s). This opportunity requires a results-driven individual, with a relentless focus on problem solving, process development, and program execution. The successful candidate is a clear communicator, who is well-organized and engages to solve problems diplomatically and inclusivity.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as Deputy Manager for optical assembly and subassembly manufacturing.
  • Plan, execute, monitor, control, document, and communicate all aspects of projects: cost, schedule, scope, technical performance, and resource use.
  • Evaluate and resolve project issues to meet defined goals and objectives.
  • Recommend changes and enhancements to project operations.
  • Facilitate standing telecoms, meetings, proposal milestones, and program events from start to finish, including capture and tracking of action items to ensure deliverables are complete and issues are closed.
  • Work with C&DM to ensure SOW, DID and GR&As are tracked and updated regularly.
  • Proactively communicate with your customers regarding the status of projects and progress toward milestones.
  • Generate cost estimates and schedules.
  • Demonstrate successful management of manufacturing and test operations meeting cost, schedule, and performance goals.
  • Utilize excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills and lead group discussions with both internal and external customers.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • Project Manager II – BS/BA in a related field plus 6 or more years related experience.
  • Project Manager III – BS/BA in a related field plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A history of performance demonstrating skills as a self-starter who is well organized, has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Experience with the MS Office suite of tools. Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Project preferred.
  • A solid understanding of all aspects of project planning, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with optics preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing preferred.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR PROJECT MANAGER II: $91,500 – $124,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR PROJECT MANAGER III: $111,000 – $154,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
