The position:
Provide leadership to a cross-functional engineering team to satisfy the requirements for system development on multiple airline customer programs. Responsible for managing Engineering activities required to fulfill all customer commitments. Drive on-time delivery of projects assigned. Lead major new system development or manage the development and ATPs for an airline consortium or a large major customer.
- Definition of Project Scope
- Drive the development and analysis of customer/system requirements.
- Identify all customer/system deliverables which may include production hardware, software, media, customer racks, documentation and support systems.
- Manage scope creep after definition is “finalized.”
- Creation and Maintenance of Project Plans
- Identify internal deliverables which may include plans, schedules and other documents, prototypes, test equipment, software, test racks and more.
- Identify and secure resources required for all project tasks.
- Lead the team to establish a comprehensive project plan to meet project commitments and to which the team has “buy-in”.
- Maintain and communicate project plans schedules status.
- Tracking & Project Execution
- Lead the team through the activities per plan.
- Manage third party development as needed.
- Manage pre-production support for ATP rack equipment as needed.
- Drive development, system integration and ATP with a focus on quality
- Apply standard techniques, procedures, processes and criteria to engineering assignments.
- Continual process improvement.
- Conduct well-planned, effective meetings which drive actions.
- Synchronize with PMO to support initial customer deliveries.
- Performance Management
- Evaluate and report on project delivery including lessons learned.
- Coach and provide feedback to the PM team as and when appropriate.
- Ensure continuous improvement in application of PM theory and practice and adjust according to PAC culture and needs.
- Customer Focus
- Be customer focused and ensure customer needs are understood and expectations managed.
- Proactively identify and communicate any potential risks to the customer and propose practical solutions.
- Deal with customer’s complaints (real or perceived) in a friendly and amicable manner towards a practical solution.
The salary range of $126,000 – $211,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
What we’re looking for:
- B.S. degree or higher in EE or CS or related degree/experience.
- 8 years of software/hardware development and integration experience or equivalent.
- 12 years’ experience in project management of software, electronic systems and/or hardware development.
- Exceptional ability to effectively manage most obstacles and negotiate accordingly.
- Highly proficient in project planning to ensure timely completion of complex projects. Must know, plan for and integrate internal and external dependencies across cross-functional boundaries.
- Expert ability to employ continual process improvement.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to manage customer interface, provide status updates to management, and to interface with different engineering groups.
- The role requires the ability to see the “big picture” and direct efforts appropriately on prioritized tasks.
- Exceptional time management skills combined with a skilled ability to multitask across different programs while tracking and resolving issues.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft MS Office products, Excel, Project, Visio and Oracle.
- Demonstrated and proven ability to effectively and professionally work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment and meet stringent deadlines.
- Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Ability to inspire team members to follow his/her lead without having direct authority over them
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-function teams to achieve positive results for complex projects.
- Performs as mentor, leader, technical expert and source of information.
- Some travel to various sites as required, up to 20%.

- Exempt Salaried employees receive unlimited PTO. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees.
- Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure.
- All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year plus a paid company-wide shut down in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year.
