Arcadis is searching for a Project Manager/Principal Engineer focused on Buried Infrastructure with a minimum of 10 years of experience to join our Resilience – Water team. This hybrid role could be based in the Wilmington, DE Philadelphia, PA or Hanover, MD office.

Role description:
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to join our team with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Project Manager, with the support of a strong nationally recognized and locally-based technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge to successfully manage and execute projects within the municipal Water / Wastewater market to help build and grow our practice.
Role accountabilities:
In the role you will work with a National Technical Manager, lead teams of skilled engineers on projects while managing projects simultaneously and utilizing technical knowledge and experience to develop the team’s overall capabilities. Additionally, this role works with clients to determine needs and provide solutions, and then manages projects and clients expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Additional responsibilities include:
- Develop project scopes, budgets, project plans and schedules, create bid packages and cost estimates, and meet established budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment.
- Manage the assessment of sewers by in-house staff and/or subcontractors using various SSES and inspection techniques including: flow studies, I&I studies, night-time wiring, smoke testing, CCTV inspection, Multi-Sensor Inspection, man-entry inspection, pole-camera inspection.
- Manage the evaluation of repair and rehabilitation methods, development of design reports, material selections, detailed construction design and preparation of plans, specifications, and front-end documents. Rehabilitation methods will involve use of trenchless repair methods such as CIPP lining, slip-lining, chemical grouting and more.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations & analysis and utilizes design software to solve complex issues, as needed.
- Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineer & design/drafting technical staff.
- Maintain project controls and coordinate invoicing activities.
- Ensure project compliance and maintains ARCADIS’ standards and specifications for quality and safety on all projects.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
- Remote work part-time is an option, with an expectation of spending at least 2 days per week in the Wilmington or Philadelphia office to work with and mentor junior staff in-person. For at least the first 4-6 months (i.e. onboarding period) a minimum of 1-2 days per week in the Wilmington office will be necessary to work with the National Technical Manager in person.
- Driving/travel to clients, project sites and for fieldwork is possible and estimated at 4-8 days per month with some overnight trips likely at times.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- PE License
- 10 years of related experience
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Must have Project/Task Management experience on projects from small to larger in size.
- Must have technical experience with some of the following: inspection, assessment, design, construction or rehabilitation of collection systems.
- Strong team leadership experience including; managing overall project delivery, mentoring and administrative supervisory responsibilities and prioritization of tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong Client Management skills including: coordinating meetings, conducting effective client presentations and preparing written reports.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- NASSCO PACP/MACP/LACP certification
- OSHA Confined Space Entry training
- In-depth experience with: trenchless rehabilitation methods, sewer replacement and rehabilitation, sewer cleaning and inspection technologies, I&I studies, SSES.

The salary range for this position is $104,900 – $157,400.
