Project Manager – Structured Cabling

The Project Manager in the Technology Solutions Departments acts as the overall leader of projects assigned. This position must ensure customer satisfaction through taking overall responsibility to complete projects safely, on time and on budget.

Compensation Range for this Role: $90,000 < Depending on Experience

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years Technology experience
  • Prior Supervisory/ Management Experience
  • Construction Experience
  • OSHA Certifications
  • CTS Preferred

General Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities

Estimating

  • Obtain the job budget, estimate number, and cap sheet (recap of the total body of the estimate)
  • Estimate all change estimates in a timely manner
  • Perform and negotiate any change estimates
  • Develop commodity estimate for installation

Budgeting/ Job Costing

  • Develop the original job budget
  • Review the budget monthly and perform cost to complete on a monthly basis
  • Establish labor cost codes for the project
  • Ensure all parties to the job (at all levels of the job) break their time into the proper areas on the timecard
  • Manage project team with labor cost codes for the project
  • Timecard management

Manpower Management & Coordination

  • Consistently involved in project manpower requirements
  • Work with the General Contractor’s Critical Path schedule and the installation estimate so our team can work in areas when the project allows
  • Introductory turnover, Pre-turnover and Turnover and compare the estimates

Project Set Up

  • Ensure the proper permit is obtained in the jurisdiction for the job location
  • Understand the permitting process
  • Wiring methods and different jurisdictions
  • Order material in a timely manner
  • Makes sure the record drawings (prefabrication and shop drawings) are kept on the jobsite are in good order
  • Take ultimate responsibility for submittal:
    • Compare the submittal to the cut sheet
    • Write the purchase order in conjunction with the submittal.
    • Perform final pricing and ensure the purchase order is submitted.
    • Review letter of intent or a subcontract with Project Development when received

Productivity, Safety, and Safety Audits

  • Performs job walks with project manager to ensure:
    • Employees are wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and tools
    • Employees are working safely and productively
    • Tools and material are located in close proximity to work performed
    • The installation is up to standards
    • Deal with the problem areas

Customer Relations

  • Doing the right thing to instill customer confidence
  • Ensure the customer has reviewed and agreed to the change estimates
  • Prior to completion, involves the service department so they know the job and are introduced to the owner to maintain the relationship.
