Seeking Technical Designer / Project Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Raleigh, NC.
Responsible for leading all IT support to ensure that customer technology needs are satisfied through building, managing, and coordinating the overall program/project plan, budget, project organizational structure, schedule, and customer relationship requirement. This includes integration and solution delivery management of all IT Service Providers and third-party vendors. Integrates all functions and activities necessary to perform the program to meet customer requirements and expectations, delivered in accordance with USPS IT policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- 15+ years of Information Technology professional experience, including at least 10 years in IT project/program management demonstrating increasingly larger efforts and scope of responsibility.
- Bachelors degree in an IT or technical discipline or equivalent years of
professional experience
- Minimum 3+ years experience with Layer 1 installation and design
- Knowledge of L2 and L3 networking, especially wireless network
- Past, proven project management experience with large projects.
- Experience with MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Experience with Auto-CAD
- Solid understanding of installation & service in network cabling (Fiber and Copper CAT 5e/6/6a), Network Devices – Routers, Switches, Wireless Access Points, LAN/WAN, servers, printers, phones, and other devices related to enterprise and data center infrastructure. This position must be familiar with ANSI/TIA standards, Fluke Testers, and Master Construction Specifications. (Design-Build construction projects.)
3 year s experience with at least one of the following manufactures/products:
1. HP – Aruba 2. Juniper Networks/Mist 3. Cisco Maraki Preferred Qualifications:
- BICSI RCDD Certification / BICSI ICT Certification
- PMI – PMP / PMI – RPTM Certification
- Networking Certifications (CCNA/CCNP, etc.)
Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- This position will perform senior-level functions and interface with USPS Management and its vendors’ technical personnel.
- This position will require travel up to 50% with limited weekend travel requirements.
- This position will work closely with USPS Management, IT Operations and Business organizations to define needs, to manage the planning, and implementation of IT infrastructure and network projects.
- The position may include independent project planning, tracking and control as well as reporting progress to executives. The person must be able to provide assessment of project issues and develops solutions to those issues to meet productivity, quality and client satisfaction goals and objectives.
- This position must be familiar with ANSI/TIA standards, Fluke Testers, and Master Construction Specifications. (Design-Build construction projects.)
- Perform Site Survey Layer-1 Designs – for all pathways and support systems, including Multi floor pathways and penetrations for Fiber Optical Cable / Copper Backbones. (Large facilities from 500,000 to 1.5 million sq. ft., open floor work environments.)
- Perform QA Inspections – of the wiring installations during Final Site Inspections, ensuring compliance of Manufacturer, Industry, NEC, and USPS design standards. (Identify, document, and report all discrepancies.)
- Candidate may perform random QA Sampling (testing) of copper and fiber during Final Site Inspection, comparing findings with vendor provided Test Results.
- Provide Network Design, Project Management, and Project Coordination with USPS telecom teams.
- Coordinate with other trades and sub-contractors as needed to provide and include electrical and HVAC requirements for Consolidated Computer Room (CCR), Telecom Rooms (TR), and Telecom Enclosures (TE).
- Coordinate and produce structured cable designs to support work area outlet types, configurations, and locations.
- Design outside plant cabling pathway. This may include wall and/or floor conduit penetrations.
- Work with architects design team to produce detailed construction drawings in AutoCAD based on project design criteria.
- Create project scope of work based on project design and technology requirements and criteria.
- Discuss with the contractor how USPS expects the Fiber and Copper to be installed, terminated, tested, and the test results will be delivered to USPS.
Additional Provisions:
- Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance
- Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
- Once candidates resume is approved and phone & in-person interview passed, the agency is responsible for providing drug screening. Failure to submit the drug screening results will delay the security clearance process.
- If a candidate is given an interim clearance, continuation of employment is then based on the candidate receiving a sensitive clearance.
- All candidates must be a US Citizen or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
- Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
- Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
- All overtime must be pre-approved in writing by the client manager or his/her designated representative.
- Agency will not be reimbursed for overtime charges without previous written authorization. Authorized overtime will be reimbursed at straight time.
