Job Summary
Mechanical Design/Analytical Engineer to provide technical expertise in Thermo-Hydraulics to support plant design basis. The successful candidate is responsible for providing thermal hydraulic analysis of piping systems/Heat Exchangers to address plant conditions, using applicable computer programs. Typical programs would include, but are not limited to: GOTHIC, PROTOFLO, PROTOHX (training will be provided, as required). Use and understanding Microsoft Office is a requirement.
This is an advance level position. Successful candidates will be evaluated/selected based on level of experience /education
Job Responsibilities
The candidate shall be capable of verifying that the problem to be solved by the customer has been clearly understood and agreed upon. Identifying, estimating, and coordinating Design Engineering and inter-facing departmental resources needed to support development and implementation of a design analysis. Developing a schedule for completion of engineering design activities. Manage contracted engineering efforts with respect to technical acceptance and other associated duties. Interfacing with station management to ensure that Engineering deliverables meet the overall station needs. The successful candidate will also perform other assigned duties as determined by the Design Engineering Branch Manager.
Support the plant design bases as pertaining to mechanical thermal-hydraulic issues. The identification, investigation, and resolution of plant operating, safety, and design issues to ensure plant system reliability, availability and compliance with design/ license basis. Individual may perform plant walkdowns, as required to assess plant conditions.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required :
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
• 7 or more years of experience in thermal hydraulic analyses (educational experience will be accepted)
• Available for Shift Work
• Must meet Nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.
Desired :
• Experience in Nuclear Power Plant Engineering.
• Masters and/or PhD Degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer,
• Experience in Multi-Phase Fluid Mechanics.
