NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

Salary Range

$88,600 – $172,300

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like

The W87-1 Program is seeking a qualified, self-motivated Project Manager who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-rigor environment, to lead our Change Control team. This role is for a project manager that will provide leadership and oversight to change control activities, including the processing of programmatic and technical changes on the program, as well as the integration of new processes and requirements. You will be responsible for establishing the required infrastructure and processes required to enable the program to meet the rigorous change control requirements of our NNSA customer. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of internal and external partners and customers. In this role, the Project Manager will partner with our Systems Engineering team to execute change control activities, as well will work with our other NSE partners on joint change control efforts. This role will be the main interface to the change control process with our NNSA customer.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Provide leadership to operations of the Change Control team
  • Disposition internal and joint programmatic and technical changes through the change control process
  • Ensure SNL processes meet the requirements of our NNSA customer
  • Work closely with NSE partners to establish and maintain joint change control processes and execute on joint change activities
  • Work closely with Program leadership to address program decisions and actively manage program’s management reserve
  • Collaborate closely with Systems Engineering staff to assess technical impact of change
  • Partner closely with NNSA counterparts to communicate changes and work to disposition changes effectively
  • Ensure integration of change control processes with earned value and schedule team activities
  • Conduct strategic improvement assessments on process to ensure that process is effective and efficient
  • Lead and direct the execution of ad hoc projects or initiatives that impact the change control process or team

On average, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 50% or more of the time. This position can be located in Albuquerque, NM, or Livermore, CA.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant field plus five or more years of demonstrated experience in Project Controls; or Master’s degree in business or relevant field plus one or more years of experience in Project Controls
  • Experience proposing and implementing programmatic processes and procedures
  • Experience with standard project management practices (and subject matter expertise in some), such as project plan development, integration management, scope management, project scheduling, cost estimation and management, quality assurance, resource management, communications planning and management, risk and opportunity management, and procurement management
  • Experience making risk-informed decisions and communicating across project areas
  • Active DOE Q-level security clearance or DOD equivalent

Qualifications We Desire

  • Knowledge of ND complex and product realization process; experience working on ND programs at the system and/or component level
  • Knowledge of project management principles and experience operating in an Earned Value Management environment
  • Experience working with Project Management tools, e.g., P6, Cobra, Empower, ARM, ARC, Oracle, CET, PMT etc.
  • Experience managing programs with high level of rigor and requirements; experience leading project through all project phases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including ability to collaborate and partner with sponsors and customers
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks and conduct independent work with minimal supervision
  • Proven leadership skills and experience training and mentoring new team members
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

W87-1 and W88 Project Management, Department 10422, is responsible for providing Project Management expertise to the W87-1 Modification Program system team at Sandia National Laboratories and is an integral part of the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) Project Management Office (PMO). The ND Programs are responsible for assuring the safety, reliability and security of U.S. nuclear weapons, enabling the defense of our nation through our nuclear strategic deterrent. Our provides knowledge of PM methodologies and tools to enable the technical line organizations to perform, oversee, and execute the scope for the W87-1.

Security Clearance

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
