Job Summary

This position is in the Training, Support, & Contractor Services organization. Candidate will provide overall project management for assigned projects within the Utility’s Electric Transmission and Distribution Capital, Operating and Maintenance, and Reimbursement portfolios.
The position provides project management of all activities related to the successful completion of assigned project(s) including but not limited to design, engineering, contingency planning, permitting, procurement, outreach, and construction.
The successful candidate will demonstrate sound project management skills in leading project teams through full project lifecycle; from business case and capital approval process, through development and execution of project plans and project closeout. The candidate shall ensure that the quality and quantity of work performed is in compliance with Company standards and procedures, safe work practices, and government laws and regulation with focus on result measurement and the use of Balanced Scorecard methodology.

This is a “Project” position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages a diverse range of projects including the lipa pole inventory project of the entire pseg long island territory and the cell site attachment program

    Identify required resources, assemble core project team and manage cross functional matrixed teams involving a broad range of engineering and construction disciplines
    assure all aspects of assigned projects (material, engineering, permits, regulatory requirements and filings, land acquisitions, contractors, labor, system communications, clearances, customer notifications) are managed, integrated and performed in a timely and cost effective manner to achieve successful completion

    Interfaces with 3rd party contractors on project objectives, milestones, and results

    Prepare and deliver project presentations as requested by senior management

    Lead the preparation of project execution plans to define overall project objectives based on approved budgets and established priorities

    Lead the development of key milestone and detailed project schedules identifying project tasks and their interdependencies
    establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

    Experience working with and understanding of contracts: lump sum, engineering, procure and construct (epc), unit cost, time and material/equipment.

    Participate in all required storm restoration activities

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Education, Knowledge and Experience:

  • BS in Engineering or related technical field; Candidates without a degree with a minimum of (10) years of engineering, construction, operations or project management experience will also be considered ; Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes Proven management experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years Construction Management, Operations or Project Management expereince
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • General knowledge of basic computer applications, i.e., MS Office Suite.; Acceptance of call-out and storm response obligations as may be Required; Safety Sensitive position
  • This position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, applicants must possess a valid drivers license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Unit agreements – IBEW Understanding of NYISO rules for the scheduling of Transmission Outages.
  • Knowledge of MS Project, Access or other CPM/scheduling software PMI Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Immigration Support will not be provided in association with this position now or in the future.
