The Project Structural Engineer Opportunity
Veev is looking for a Project Structural Engineer. The right candidate would be an experienced civil or structural engineer with a passion for innovation and an extensive technical knowledge. This position will lead project teams, overseeing the development of all required project permit deliverables as the Engineer of Record (EOR), in all phases of a project from initial due diligence to final completion and hand-over.
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of all required codes, hands-on experience using several construction methods and materials, as well as a proficient knowledge in Revit, StructSoft and BIM360, and advanced skills in the use of ETABS or similar Structural design software. You will employ and oversee the use of performance based analysis to create robust designs using our proprietary building systems, and participate with a cross disciplinary team in further developing novel solutions for project conditions. Cold formed steel design of load bearing wall structures is at the core of what we do…. experience is a plus.
What you’ll do at Veev
- Serve as Lead Structural Engineer and Project Manager on projects, including sealing drawings and calculations as the Engineer of Record
- Prepare calculations and reviews calculations and specifications
- Create and coordinate specialty connections as required for permit submittals
- Review Permit submissions and correct drawings and calculations as necessary
- Possess knowledge of codes, standards, and building practices
- Interface with design teams, leadership, and clients
- Assist in developing project schedules
- Identify scope of work on a per project basis; delegate work to staff accordingly
- Evaluate and propose appropriate materials and systems
- Prepare reports, technical memorandums, recommendations, and cost estimates
- Mentor younger staff
- Perform factory observations
- Ability to perform field walks/structural observations. May include climbing ladders, lifting items upwards of 45lbs, crawling under floors, walking on roofs, and/or walking/standing for extended periods of time
Requirements, Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred
- 6+ years of experience in the field of structural engineering
- Licensure in California in either a Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering is required – or the ability to obtain licensure in CA within three months of hire date
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Resourcefulness and willingness to learn
- Forward-thinking with a passion for innovation
- Experience with ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, and ACI building codes
- Experience with Steel Design and Cold-Formed Steel Design is a plus
- Experience with single-family residential and multi-family housing is a plus
- Experience with AutoCAD and working knowledge or Revit
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Advanced skills with Structural Engineering software preferred (Enercalc, SAP, ETABS, RISABase, RISA3d) is a plus

Compensation
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skills, education, experience, and location is $145,000- $160,000 annually for Hayward, CA and surrounding areas. This role is also eligible for stock options, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, flexible paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
