Job Summary/Basic Function:
The prospect development analyst impacts the success of the development efforts by providing information, reports, and detailed analyses pertaining to the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of potential and current annual, major, principal and planned gift donors to Boise State. The analyst plays a critical role in enhancing biographical and financial data, and determining the gift capacity and inclination levels of the Boise State prospect pool. Their efforts ensure that the gift officers are focused on the right prospects at the optimal time.

University Advancement is the primary fundraising arm of Boise State University. We work to build relationships and support for the university by developing and nurturing donor-centered relationships and stewarding gifts made in support of Boise State. University Advancement collaborates with the Boise State University Alumni Association, Boise State University Foundation, and the Bronco Athletic Association.

Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
Essential Functions:
60% of the time the Prospect Development Analyst must:

  • Implement prospect management and research policies and procedures which align with the strategic direction of University Advancement.
  • Be responsible for researching and analyzing prospect(s) background, wealth, interests, and relationship with Boise State in an effort to identify and qualify individual, corporate and foundation prospects for the university’s priority projects.
  • Collaborate with the development staff to assist with prioritizing and managing major, planned and principal gift prospect portfolios, with particular emphasis on identifying appropriate prospects for qualification calls.

35% of the time the Prospect Development Analyst must:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of public records, periodicals, electronic databases, and internal sources for obtaining prospect information.
  • Utilize the Advancement database to build and update records, and create meaningful queries and reports.
  • Maintain accurate prospect records within the database.

5% of the time the Prospect Development Analyst must:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Experience in a related professional arena (preferably in higher education) with an aptitude for data analysis in order to identify characteristics of individual, corporate and foundation major, planned and principal gift prospects.
  • Familiarity with the principal tools and techniques for development research (including sources of public records available through online databases, directories and various periodicals). In addition, utilize the Advancement database to build and update records, and create meaningful queries and reports.
  • Excellent analytical skills to determine information that is critical to the advancement staff in the fundraising process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize data from research sources and strategies into concise and meaningful prospect briefs and profiles.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years’ experience or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred experience in higher education and a related field such as development, prospect research, advancement services, library science/information sciences. Salary and Benefits:
Salary range starts at $50,000 and is commensurate with experience.
