Role Summary
The Protection Security Specialist will be responsible for the safety and welfare of Rivian employees, executives, and property through the deployment of a multi-layered and multi-disciplined approach capable of rapid adaptation to Rivian’s dynamic environment and culture. You will work within a team that provides a comprehensive, proactive program that safeguards employees, executives, and property from all forms of security and safety hazards. The Security Specialist is key in establishing a proactive, consultative, and service orientated culture for Security at Rivian.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the ability to adapt and thrive in an exceptionally flexible security environment.
- Greet visitors while following all security protocols.
- Establish contact with employees or visitors while performing security measures, such as checking in guests using the visitor management system or connecting guests with Rivian host.
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness and command presence in your assigned area while providing first level leadership to Rivian’s contracted security partners.
- Partner with various facility stakeholders to resolve security incidents and improve the security posture of the site.
- Complete detail-oriented security reports as requested/required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners on crisis response and management, emergency coordination, and business information and intelligence.
- Provide physical security coverage in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide physical security presence to de-escalate and mitigate threats against property and personnel.
- Provides safe, comfortable, and efficient transportation for Rivian employees and executives.
- Driving is an essential part of this role and a clean driving record is a must.
- Perform protective advances and route planning.
- Assist in conducting vulnerability assessments and audits.
- Assist management in developing and maintaining policy and procedures for associated security programs.
- Support development and delivery of training for associated security programs.
- Identify and respond to emergency situations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in use and proper maintenance of all equipment (i.e., vehicles, medical supplies, communications devices, etc.)
- Answer security-related inquiries and intake reports of security/safety issues in a calm, reassuring, and professional manner.
- Support development and delivery of security awareness activities.
- Provide support to Rivian employees and executives during events.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions for event security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Always ensure the highest level of privacy and confidentiality.
- Global travel based upon operational needs.
- Supplement other aspects of the Security Program as directed by management.
Qualifications
- Integrity and professionalism
- 5+ years of security, law enforcement, or military experience with a minimum of 3 year in a protective security assignment required
- Event Security experience highly preferred
- Completion of protective security and technical driving course highly preferred
- Must possess a current U.S. passport (TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry highly preferred)
- BSIS Certification highly preferred
- Experience with intelligence analysis desired (Military, law enforcement, or commercial)
- Experience operating various technical security systems including access control, video management, life-safety, phone, radio, dispatch, and mass-notification systems to detect and facilitate the response to potential security/safety issues preferred
- Must be physically fit and maintain a clean and professional appearance
- Must have valid driver’s license with a clean record and successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation
- Medical experience desired (EMT, First Responder, 18D, Paramedic, Navy Corpsman)
- A high degree of organization, prioritization, and awareness with the ability to multitask efficiently
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision
- A positive attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (formal training in verbal de- escalation preferred)
- Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365)
- Ability to solve problems in stressful or unfamiliar situations
- Ability to interact with staff of all levels, in a high pressure and fast paced environment
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays to include the ability to travel
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range for Palo Alto, CA based applicants: $104,000 – $120,000 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law)
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
