Job Description
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to plan and prepare food, and to lead workers in the operation of the snack bar/concession area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Leads the work of part-time staff and trains new staff members regarding daily operations, including food preparation, cooking, and cleaning and equipment operation.
Prepares food items to specifications; peels, cuts, chops, dices, slices, minces, chops and prepares ingredient items to be cooked; prepares bulk items to specifications by following recipes.
Cooks food items according to orders; grills and deep fries foods; evaluates and ensures product quality; coordinates food production and quantities according to business levels.
Cleans and sanitizes work station and equipment according to established schedule and specifications; vacuums and mops floors; scrubs grill and deep fryer; washes pots, pans and other food service equipment.
Maintains and operates food service equipment, including soda fountain, beer tap, and ice machine; changes or replenishes as needed.
Maintains inventory and supplies; organizes freezers, dry storage and refrigerators according to first in/first out; inventories food and supplies; ensures proper rotation of inventory; ensures all food items are stored properly; initiates orders for replacement as needed.
Opens and closes register; receives monies for payment of food and beverages; prepares bank deposits; verifies counts; maintains related documentation.
Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individual; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, or other documents.
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, recipes, equipment manuals, policies, procedures, catalogs, rules or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Communicates with supervisor, City employees, sales representatives, the general public, or other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, resolve problems, or give/receive advice/direction.
Operates a cash register, adding machine, deep fryer, grill, oven, range, steam table, meat slicer, beverage cart, coffee maker, soda machine, beer dispenser, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; six months experience in food preparation and service; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
