POSITION SUMMARY

This position is Essential and is required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.
Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.
Semi-skilled and manual work in maintaining various grounds, fields and facilities. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City. The primary schedule for this position is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7-12pm.
The starting salary range for this position is $15.54 – $17.87, depending on qualifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Keeps the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintaining high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.
- Maintains equipment and facilities by performing manual labor and semi-skilled work
- Maintains various grounds, fields and parks by performing mowing, weeding, tilling, raking, digging and other manual labor tasks
- Prepares fields, grounds and courts for athletic activities
- Performs tasks of painting, irrigation maintenance and spraying
- Performs sodding, seeding, trimming, edging, mulching and similar work in parks and other City grounds.
- Performs litter control functions, cleans restrooms
- Sets up picnic and other areas
- Operates vehicles and equipment and performs preventative maintenance functions on the vehicles and equipment.
- Makes daily written and oral reports
- Informs and directs public in the use of facilities
- Other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and two (2) years of grounds maintenance experience is required. Valid Florida Driver’s License and maintenance of clean driving record is required. A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, kneel, bend, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/ move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move and/or lift up to 80 pounds and climb a ladder up to 15 feet in height. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, chemicals, airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
