About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the part-time, seasonal position of Inventory Specialist for Harrah’s Cherokee Center of Asheville. The Inventory Specialist position will assist the Food and Beverage Department in receiving, storing and stocking products in various warehouse and concession stand locations.
Pay Rate: $21.13 per hour
Schedule: Schedule is determined based on the venue event schedule. The Inventory Specialist position will primarily work on event dates, however, may include additional shifts on days before or after an event on a needed basis. This position is part time/seasonal for up to 1,000 hours in a year.
Benefits: This position is temporary/seasonal and is NOT eligible for benefits, paid leave time (vacation, sick, holiday) nor participation in the retirement system.
This position will remain open until the closing date listed or until a sufficient number of applications are received.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Inventory Specialist will primarily work on events dates at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in downtown Asheville. Their primary responsibilities are:
- Maintains inventory levels to ensure adequate materials for completion of work activities; confirms quantity on hand; reviews usage.
- Issues supplies or other items: fills work orders for supplies from inventory; pulls stock to fill work orders; reviews work orders to ensure accuracy and closes out completed work orders; and maintains logs/records of all materials checked out or issued.
- Processes inventory at receiving; receives materials, equipment, and supplies: verifies shipping and packing lists; performs accurate count of incoming materials; runs receiving report; and performs basic data entry.
- Shelves and stores materials, equipment, and supplies: ensures proper shelving of inventory; updates stocking levels; maintains inventory locations; ensures proper inventory labeling; and maintains related records and documentation.
- Maintains safety and cleanliness of storage areas.
- Delivers and distributes supplies to other workstations.
- Communicates with supervisor, other City employees, vendors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required, with vocational or technical training applicable to area of assignment; supplemented by one year of experience in inventory management, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Specific License or Certification Required:
- Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

- Ability to read and understand basic workplace data, such as simple forms, tables, graphs, schedules, etc.
- Ability to think creatively in all areas for the purpose of increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
