The Division of Investigative and Forensic Services encompasses all law enforcement and forensic components residing within the Department of Financial Services. With this broad responsibility, the division investigates a wide range of fraudulent and criminal acts including:

  • Insurance Fraud Investigations
  • Workers’ Compensation Fraud Investigations
  • Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations
  • Theft/Misuse of State Funds
  • Fire and Explosives Sample Analysis

Additional requirements:

  • Experience with comprehensive research projects (i.e., ability to research, collect, evaluate, and analyze data and be able to present in a written report format).
  • Experience reviewing and preparing forms and reports
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Minimal Travel

Preferencewill be given for:

  • Previous experience working with Communications/Public Information Specialist/Officer performing duties such as media releases or press releases, promotional announcements, community briefings, multimedia events, scripts and public information and consumer education about the agency’s service and handling media inquiries.

Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal & written skills that meet a critical need of the agency’s mission.

This position requires a security background check which includes a financial credit report, and fingerprinting.

Our Salary & Benefits:

The minimum base salary for this position is $38,175.60.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Ability to research, collect, evaluate, and analyze data to present in written report format.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  1. Independently performs a full range of assignments under limited supervision. Receives and sends information that is confidential in nature related to the duties of this position. Serves as the Division liaison with the Department’s press office. Coordinates with DFS Office of Communications to facilitate social media outreach and to coordinate media releases and press conferences as needed. Maintains and documents the agency outreach opportunities. Draft and coordinate with the communications office on media advisories, press releases, promotional announcements, CFO community briefings, multimedia events, scripts and other public information material intended to enhance consumer education about the agency’s services and products. Handles media inquiries and questions from the public.
  1. Completes comprehensive research projects, including assisting with program evaluation studies and other law enforcement related studies as assigned. Performs ad hoc studies, analyses and related work as required. Compose the Division’s Annual reports.
  1. Consults and coordinates with regional outreach coordinators to localize information and education programs and strategies. Develops and compiles consumer education articles for distribution through the Department’s electronic newsletter to help consumers make informed decisions. Develops and distributes standardized departmental consumer education material designed to address trends and issues identified from complaint activity, research into treads and conditions, and consumer needs.
  1. Provides material and acts as spokesperson for the division on matters of public interest. Generate positive content for distribution throughout the agency and media, market the mission of the Division through photography, graphics, and words.
  1. Monitors social media related to agency performance and areas of enforcement. Communicates with executive staff related to trends in social media.
  1. Provides administrative support for Division on an as-needed basis.
  1. Performs related duties as required.
