The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s office is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Public Outreach Administrator. The ideal candidate will understand Palm Beach County’s different communities and will easily move between business meetings and weekend community outreach events.
This position is responsible for representing the Clerk’s office and building proactive professional relationships with key stakeholder groups, including Chambers of Commerce, neighborhood and homeowner associations, community organizations, nonprofit groups and government agencies The selected candidate must possess excellent communication skills, work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced, innovative and challenging environment.

Examples of Essential Functions

  • Representing Clerk Abruzzo and the Clerk’s office at community events, during the workday as well as after hours and/or on weekends
  • Presenting to community groups and other organizations as needed with information about the Clerk’s office and its programs and services
  • Providing timely updates to the Chief Communications Officer about outcomes at community meetings and events, including discussions or activities that could impact the Clerk’s office
  • Working with the Chief Communications Officer and Community Engagement team to identify new outreach opportunities to targeted audiences and diverse communities
  • Assisting the Chief Communications Officer, Communications Manager and Community Engagement Manager in the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual community outreach plan to achieve objectives and measurable outcomes
  • Conferring with executive management to advise and coordinate outreach tactics and strategies related to Clerk’s office programs and services
  • Working collaboratively with the Communications and Community Engagement teams to promote Clerk’s office programs, events, outreach and services
  • Researching and responding to a wide range of community inquiries
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the general public, coworkers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability or political affiliation
  • Ability to understand sensitive community issues and respond accordingly
  • Ability to respond to ideas in a respectful and courteous manner and listen to the community’s ideas and respond accordingly

Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Communications, Public Relations or related field, supplemented by five (5) years of recent and relevant experience in local or state government, public affairs or community outreach; or in lieu of Bachelor’s degree, 4 years of direct work experience and 1 year supplemental experience.
