Python Software Engineer / Remote

Peraton is currently seeking a Python Software Engineer for its’ Federal Strategic Cyber program located in Arlington, VA.

Location: This is a remote role, with a strong preference for someone local to the Arlington, VA area that can come on site as needed.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct requirements gathering and analysis to scope the development efforts.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and document software applications leveraging AWS cloud technology.
  • Participate in the agile development and change management processes and software (e.g., JIRA).
  • Produce and maintain software/change documentation (e.g., Gitlab, GitHub, Bitbucket).
  • Interface and work closely with customer stakeholders.
  • Conduct analysis of operational gaps and provide technical recommendations.
  • Participate in troubleshooting/diagnostic efforts to replicate problems and test solutions.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Identify and propose technology, process improvements and best practices for providing cyber analytic solutions for the customer.
  • Conduct demos, presentations and briefings as required.
  • Participate and provide input as part of Agile project daily stand-up, sprint planning, backlog refinement and retrospective meetings.
  • Ad hoc – other duties will be assigned as needed.
  • Provide engineering designs for new software solutions.
  • Take a lead in software design, implementation, and testing.
  • Design and build prototype solutions.
  • Research and identify application flaws.
  • Remedy development mistakes
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise.
  • Maintain technical documentation.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • BS 2-4 Years, MS 0-2, or HS 8-10; an additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of software development experience, or a Master’s degree and 0-2 years; additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, specifically AWS preferred.
  • Experience in Python 3.x.
  • Experience with writing Python on Linux/UNIX OS, preferably using Flask and Apache.
  • Experience querying Redshift, AWS S3 Buckets as well at using HTML and Java Script on the front end.
  • Good understanding of server-side templating languages and frameworks, specifically as Flask.
  • Familiarity with Angular or other relevant front-end languages (i.e., Java Script, HTML, VueJs or ReactJs).
  • Knowledge of and current, recent experience with databases and writing basic queries to include AWS S3 buckets.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to function highly in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret security clearance. US citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain/maintain an agency level clearance – DHS EOD suitability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience studying and enhancing UI/UX for front-end web applications.
  • Experience with the MITRE STIX 2.x Specification.
  • Experience with Python libraries that handle/manage STIX envelopes/bundles/objects.
  • Current, active Secret or TS/SCI w/ EOD Suitability.

Target Salary Range
$86,000 – $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
