Clemente Fane Concrete is a division of Dolomite Products Company, Inc. and is one of the many local companies in the Northeast within the CRH Americas Materials division of CRH. Clemente Fane Concrete is a leading supplier of ready mix concrete products to state, federal, municipal, commercial, and private customers with operations throughout New York State.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and safety-conscious Quality Control Technician to join our team in the Capital District region. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the production of top-quality ready-mix concrete while upholding regulatory compliance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety First: Prioritize safety above all else, strictly adhering to OSHA and MSHA regulations, as well as adhering to Callanan’s environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
2. Quality Control Testing: Conduct precise quality control testing in accordance with the requirements set forth by State and local agencies, private standards, and Callanan procedures. Your dedication will ensure that only the highest quality concrete materials are produced.
3. Data Reporting: Deliver test data promptly to the plant manager and other relevant plant personnel, enabling well-informed decisions regarding material quality.
4. Process Enhancement: Offer insightful recommendations for process adjustments and mix improvements as necessary to elevate the quality of the ready-mix concrete.
5. Certification Maintenance: Uphold current State agency QC/QA certifications, meticulously ensuring compliance with agency specifications, and safeguarding the integrity of the quality control program.
6. Data Management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database and record logs to support efficient operations and comprehensive reporting.
7. Customer Support: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (sales, construction, estimating, operations, and senior management) and external customers by providing detailed insights into material specifications and test results upon request.
8. Attendance: Regular and Predictable Attendance is required.
9. Flexible Schedule: Recognize that during peak seasons, overtime and weekend work may be necessary to meet production demands.

Requirements:
– Proficiency in reading the English language to comprehend information found in specifications, reports, manuals, and regulations.

– Capacity to effectively evaluate questions or problems, seeking assistance when necessary.
– Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
– Willingness to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
– Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and occasional night shifts.
– Openness to travel as required.
– Adaptability to perform various duties, often transitioning between tasks of varying nature.
– Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from the job site.
– Completion of a drug screen and background check is a prerequisite for employment with Callanan Industries, Inc.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this role include bending and walking, with occasional lifting and/or moving of items up to 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to irritants and chemicals and occasionally exposed to noise, dust, vibration, and irritating atmospheres at or around the operating sites. Employee is frequently exposed to existing weather conditions. Employee must perform numerous tasks indoors and throughout a site.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud. exposure to heat and cold can occur occasionally.
This person will also have to be able to work alone and with others.
Education/Experience:
– High School diploma or equivalent. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
– Preferred but not mandatory: NJSAT certification in HMA Plant and Paving Technician, ACI Certification.
– Desirable but not required: NYSDOT certification in HMA Plant Quality Control Technician.
