We are looking for a business operations specialist to join our team in R&D. In this role, you will contribute to effectively managing the operations of an R&D. You’ll get a chance to engage with senior management and support their decisions for improving performance, identify risks and design solutions within the organization. We are now streamlining and digitalizing the current practices for matching global standard practices of Hitachi and offering opportunities for skill-building and professional growth in this position. Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for reviewing contracts of external collaborations (university, partner, startup etc.), organize and keep up-to-date documentation, recommend process or software for the review process.
- Responsible for reviewing internal procedures for paper submissions to external parties.
- Gathering, organizing, analyzing, and reporting of KPI’s for R&D.
- Manage and organize information on portal sites and repository (MS SharePoint).
- Handling confidential research activity and documentation.
- Plan, develop and execute design for digitalizing existing policies or practices for R&D.
- Create and communicate training material and plans as needed with labs, cross functional teams within the organization.
- Collaborate and assist in executing global R&D internal meetings and events.
- Responsible for managing documentation of contracts and related compliance procedures.
- Responsible for handling internal audits of processes.
- Ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Science or Engineering degree
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in operations support
- Knowledge of policies for technical conferences, export/import policies in accordance with US EAR, intellectual property such as patents, public grants etc. preferred.
- Strong organization, and prioritization skills
- Ensure smooth execution of cross-dependent programs and continuously improve execution over time
- Comfortable working autonomously, and passionate about building out new processes and tools
- Knowledge of PC and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams, MS PowerApps).
- Experience in R&D or similar work preferred
- Ability to manage multiple job tasks with competing priorities.
- Must be flexible, reliable and able to easily interact with all levels.
- Should possess strong analytical skills problem-solving capabilities.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Should be willing to travel occasionally within US and overseas.

For California only (as required by California’s Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act (SB 1162): The expected salary for this position in our California office is $73,600 – $82,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
