The Boeing International Space Station (ISS) team is currently seeking an ISS Software Engineer (Entry or Associate Level) to join our Flight Software Development Team located in Houston, Texas.
The ISS program is responsible for maintaining the on-orbit software which includes all software development, simulation, testing, and integration. In addition, the ISS software teams integrate data and maintain ground based software tools.
This exciting software engineer position will work on existing and emerging programs. Real-time software written will be used for on-orbit International Space Station functionality

Position Responsibilities:
- Full life-cycle development including requirements analysis, software architecture, designs, coding, unit test, and integration
- Assisting with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
- Developing and maintaining code and integrating software components into a fully functional software system
- Assisting with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
- Troubleshooting on-orbit software issues
- Collaborating with System Engineers/ Analysts as well other members of the Integrated Product Team
- Highly motivated and must work well in a team environment
- Working under general supervision
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or other technical degree by Aug 2023
- Experience designing and developing software for a real time or non-real-time system
- Experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 1 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience integrating software with embedded hardware platforms in a lab environment
- Experience with software design, development, debugging, and performing software integration and test
- Experience with Agile Software Development
- Experience with the DevSecOps
Typical Education/Experience:
Entry (Level 1)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Associate (Level 2)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range for Entry Level: $74,800 – $101,200
Summary Pay Range for Associate Level: $90,950 – $123,050
