Why does the job exist?
Incumbent will manage the CYFD Receiving Center. The Receiving Center is a place for children and youth who come into custody or are currently in custody to have a safe place to wait until placement can be found. The Receiving Center is a 24/7/365 facility for children statewide. This position will be responsible for staffing of the center and ensuring there is adequate space, necessities, needs for our children/youth, development of a therapeutic milieu, safety for our staff and youth, and data entry and case notes. This incumbent must work closely with Behavioral Health Division to ensure the center is trauma informed and responsive to our children/youth.
How does it get done?
• The Receiving Center Manager will conduct quality assurance and performance improvement activities and monitor offices and Receiving Center to support good practice and meet Federal Requirements, do monthly all staff meetings, monthly data collection and clients lists of the Receiving Center, do outreach to workers and community, attend shelter call meeting, licensing meetings, daily staffing’s, tracking approval of MFD, and attend Health & Safety committee, workforce development, Strategic Engagement & Communication Planning Team meetings. 50%
• The Receiving Center Manager is responsible for managing all functions of the local county office regarding programs, policies, procedures, service delivery, budget and personnel. Function in a leadership role and conduct other duties as assigned to achieve the agency mission. 20%
• The Receiving Center Manager will coordinate Open Skies referrals, work with the youth and provide guidance and training on Nurtured Heart along with formulating plans for youth while at the Receiving Center, and oversee 2 supervisory staff that will ensure 24/7 coverage, ensure there is food, clean, and appropriate for all children in CYFD custody. 25%
• This position will be responsible for getting donations for all items needed to fill the receiving center. This position will work very closely with Behavioral Health Division to ensure all children receiving a BH Assessment and all services needed for the child. Each day, the receiving center receives new children and has kids that are difficult to place or disrupt placement, and this position will 5%
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or Family Studies from an accredited college/university and three (3) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care, of which one (1) year must be supervisory experience. Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Travel is required.
