Job Description
This position is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, developing and interpreting financial information including but not limited to the accounting areas of financial aid, Foundation, and enterprise funds so that college financial information is accurate and timely and accounting and finance practices follow state and federal laws as well as generally accepted accounting principles. Also, this position will also serve as the Workday Compensation Partner and be the lead for the added Workday implementation and staff training.
Specific Duties Include:
- Lead the reconciling of agency bank accounts, monitoring of accounts receivable, reconciling federal financial aid accounts, developing of monthly management reports, and recommending of procedure and policy changes to ensure financial information is accurate and timely, and in compliance with state and federal laws as well as generally accepted accounting principles.
- Lead WorkDay financial initiatives for the college. This includes the assignment of personnel assignments, the training of staff, the implementation of Workday updates and the management of communications with the college and the System Office.
- Collect and record transactions for the HTC Foundation as directed, including in-kind donations, scholarship activity, revenue and expense activities. Reconcile bank accounts to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and in compliance with Foundation requirements, department policy, and state and federal regulations. Coordinate partnership with outside accounting firm
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, management or related degree plus two years of professional level accounting, finance or management experience; OR four years of accounting experience sufficient to perform reconciliation and financial analysis, develop financial reports, and manage student payroll, charge back, and other accounting processes.
- Demonstrated general accounting, business and technical skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles
- Demonstrated advanced math and analytical/problem solving skills
- Demonstrated experience in reconciliation
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access)
Preferred Qualifications

- MinnState Business office experience
- Demonstrated MinnState Accounting System experience
- Experience with Grant Accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business
