Department Description Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness and recreation programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following: The Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), Pavilion, Live Well, Recreation Sports, Sports Clubs, Equestrian Center, Craft Center, Aquatics Program, Outdoor Adventures, Youth Programs and the UC Davis Marching Band.
Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Associate Director for Recreation, serve as the Assistant Director for Student Development, Aquatics and Youth Programs within the Department of Campus Recreation. Manage Youth Programs serving over 2000 youth up to grade 12 during the summer and school year. Includes multiple camps and activities developed in coordination with departmental units and other campus departments Also includes overall management of Cal Aggie Camp, a residential summer camp for hard to serve youth. Manage Aquatic program including lap & recreational swimming, child & adult swim lessons, group reservations, and other programming for students, faculty, staff and the community. Establish and manage a comprehensive student development program that can be implemented across departmental units to ensure consistency in training and continuity of services. Develop, prepare and manage the budgets for assigned programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Restricted vacation during peak periods. Valid CA driver’s license required. Work occasional overtime. Work occasional weekends and holidays. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/ training.
- Must have a minimum of three years experience managing recreation programs in a university, municipal, non-profit or private setting including, student development activities, aquatics, and/or youth programs
- Leadership and supervisory experience to select, supervise, motivate and evaluate student employees relative to work performance, crisis management, and peer relationships.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Knowledge of student development principles and theories.
- Knowledge of basic safety and risk management practices as they related to collegiate recreation programs, facilities and services.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and varied organizational levels within and outside of the University; ability toOral and written communication skills to prepare concise, yet comprehensive presentations before small and large audiences. foster a positive climate among a diverse group of staff, student employees and participants.
- Budgeting skills to develop, oversee and manage multiple, assigned program budgets, and to prioritize use of funds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Experience in collegiate recreation setting.
- Experience with CampDoc, Innosoft Fusion or other registration management software.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Organizational skills to prioritize workload and meet work assignments, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
