Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; three years of college and/or equivalent experience in working with recreation programs or event planning; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of recreation programs and objectives as well as behavior management preferred. Effective oral and written communication skills and CPR and first aid certification desired. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
Duties
The Recreation Activity Specialist IV (RASIV) is an integral part of the Stonebridge Recreation /Senior Center community providing fun and educational programs to a large close-knit group focusing on those 50 and older as well as some younger adults, children, and families. This position is a great opportunity to interact with people of all ages.
Job responsibilities include:
-Daily recreation center administrative duties.
-Program and special events coordination. Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate programs. Program registration and maintenance.
-Order supplies and materials needed for programs and/or the recreation center. Facility reservations and bookings.
-Program guide submission.
-Assist instructors with scheduling their programs. Special events decoration designs.
-Invoice processing.
-Program marketing which includes flyer design and distribution. Instructor/vendor contracts and payments.
-Effectively utilize automated systems and other software to assure efficient office management. Youth and teen program coordination, supervision, and evaluation.
-Responsible for booking entertainment and processing payments.
-Supervise volunteers.
-Cover at different locations when needed.
-Place work orders when needed.
-Setting up rooms for daily activities.
-Enforce facility rules and regulations.
-Perform other duties as required.
Shift
Shift varies Monday – Friday; 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; includes some evenings and weekends
