SUMMARY OF POSITION
The City of Pasco is looking to hire aRecreation Aideto work with the youth in our After School Program! This is a great opportunity to serve as a positive role model, make a difference in your community and build your skill level if you want to work in the field of education!
*After School Program Hours – 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.*
*Hiring for both Recreation Aide I ($15.74) and Recreation Aide II ($16.74 – $17.24) positions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Additional job functions may vary due to department or City needs/requirements. Assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Provides customer service, answer questions, sets up, breaks down, and closes afterschool programs; communicates issues/concerns as they arise to their supervisor, or other recreation staff on duty.
- Assists staff to maintain order during the afterschool program activities and ensures the safety of participants.
- Ensures and enforces program, facility, and department/division rules.
- Cleans program areas and stores equipment and supplies at the end of each day.
- Organizes and leads a variety of games and activities for school aged children.
- Supervises and manages elementary school aged children.
- Coordinates and organizes enrichment activities for elementary school aged children.
- Establish positive relationships as a mentor/role model with the youth in the afterschool program, in conjunction with program goals.
- Support in creating a positive and safe environment for all program participants.
- Provide supervision during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Maintains and oversees the proper use of equipment and supplies by participants.
- Enforced facility, equipment, and program rules and regulations, taking appropriate action with participants when necessary.
- Assists school aged children with homework or art projects.
- Assists with dispute mediation, controlling of group behavior to minimize conflicts.
- Interacts with program patrons and the public in a professional manner.
- Assists members of the community with general inquiries
- Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
- CPR training may be required.
- Must be 17 years old or older.
Preferred Requirements/Experience:
- Experience working with school aged children (6 – 11 year old).
- Background in children’s studies, education, or working in schools.
- Experience with planning and implementing activities.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Certain licenses and certificates, if required, may be acquired on the job as agreed upon by the City and employee. Subject to change based on operational needs.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This work requires regular and punctual attendance. This work requires the regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and rare exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions, frequently requires standing, walking and lifting and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing and pushing or pulling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. gymnasium).
