Clarification from the agency
U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
Duties
- Instructs patrons of a recreational facility in horsemanship, applying practical knowledge of equestrian activities.
- Assist with individual rentals, boarding, group events such as pony circles, organized trail rides, youth horse camp and special public events. Promotes interest in programming making presentation to units, schools and other recreation activities.
- Monitories activities for services to determine the budget process for financial accountability of the program. Conducts riding lessons, organizing group events and horse camp for children.
- May assist with feeding, care of horses, basic maintenance repairs of riding equipment, and trail rides. May operate vehicle to deliver horses to special events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Appointment subject to favorable suitability determination.
- Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 45 pounds, as well as stand, walk, and bend for lengthy periods of time.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Must be willing and able to work Monday through Sunday, Days and Evenings, as well as occasional Holidays for special events.
- Must be willing and able to travel occasionally to on and off post locations in support of horse shows, purchasing, or for special events.
- A pre-employment occupational physical is required for this position.
- This position requires periodic drug testing.
- Satisfactory completion of all required background checks in accordance with AR215-3, 2-15. j. (1) to include a National Agency Check (NACI) with Childcare Inquires.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have work experience that includes the following duties: Assist with individual rentals, boarding, group events (e.g. pony circles, organized trail rides, etc.); assist with feeding, care of horses, basic maintenance repairs of riding equipment, etc.
- Must have work experience in instructing patrons in horsemanship, to include instructing riding skills.
- Must have work experience in a customer service focused environment.
- Must be willing and able to ride, saddle, and handle horses and feel comfortable in occasionally leading trail rides.

Best Qualified:
One (1) year or more experience in instructing riding skills in both English and Western pleasure.
