Description
The Recreation Coordinator will oversee the Fitness and Aquatic Division of the Town of Davie’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. Under general supervision, performs supervisory and administrative recreation work in planning, directing and promoting recreation and community education programs sponsored by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. Employee is responsible for planning, scheduling, and promoting programs and events; developing and administering project budgets; and hiring, training, evaluating and supervising program personnel. Reports to the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Assistant Director.
Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated)
- Graduation from a four (4) year college or university with a degree in physical education, recreation, leisure services or a related field;
- Five (5) years of supervisory and administrative experience in athletic, fitness aquatics or recreational programs;
- Aquatic Facility Operator Certification (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO);
- Possess or have the ability to obtain the following within six (6) months of employment:
- Lifeguard Instructor Certification
- Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI)
Additional qualifying experience beyond five (5) years may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
PREFERRED
- Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) Certification;
- Aquatic Professional Designation (AqP) or Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certification.
Special Requirements
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
