POSITION OBJECTIVE
The City of Fridley is seeking enthusiastic, friendly and highly motivated applicants for the following positions; seasonal Recreational Youth Program Instructors, Facility Monitors, League Scorekeeper.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Recreation Program Instructor – $13.39 – $14.49/hour
This position is responsible for ensuring participants receive a quality recreational experience in a safe environment within the City of Fridley’s recreation programming for youth ages 3-12.
Essential Job Functions
- Instructing prepared lesson plans.
- Playing and interacting with children.
- Chaperoning off-site field trips.
- Communicating regularly with parents/guardians.
- Youth instruction includes but is not limited to: Sports, Arts/Crafts, Games, Science, and Outdoor Activities.
- This is an active position that involves work in varying conditions: outdoors in parks, indoor classrooms/gym, and off-site field trip locations. Instructors will be scheduled for a variety of programs including After School Programs, Preschool Evening Programs, Field Trips, and Community Events.
- Establish and maintain tactful and effective working relationships with co-workers, program participants, caregivers, and the public.
Recreation Facility Monitor – $13.39 – $14.49/hour
This position is responsible for ensuring participants receive a quality recreational experience in a safe environment within the City of Fridley’s gym and warming house programming. Facility Monitors must be able to establish and maintain tactful and effective working relationships with co-workers, program participants, caregivers, and the public.
Commons Park Warming House
The Commons Park Warming House will be open from Late December – late February depending on weather and rink conditions. Warming House attendants are responsible for checking skates in and out, upholding all rink policies and procedures, opening and closing of warming house facility, leading special activities, assisting skaters, documenting use, completing reports, cleaning of facility, and performing other duties as assigned.
Hayes Elementary School Gym
Gym attendants will monitor open gym, adult leagues, and gym reservations at the Hayes Elementary school gym through May. Responsibilities will include, set up and take down of program equipment, monitoring the facility, processing small transactions related to the program, locking/unlocking and securing the facility space, and performing other duties as assigned.
Recreation League Scorekeeper – $15.45 – $16.73
This position will be responsible for the scorekeeping, record keeping, and onsite organization of the Fridley adult leagues, primarily Fridley Men’s Basketball Leagues.
Essential Job Functions
Recreation League Scorekeepers will track the scores of recreation leagues operated by the City of Fridley Parks and Recreation Department. These scores will be on display on scoreboards for teams to track during their games. In addition, scorekeepers will work with referees and teams to collect team rosters, track penalties, report scores to league coordinator, record information and other duties as assigned. Scorekeepers must be able to establish and maintain tactful and effective working relationships with co-workers, program participants, referees, and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS
Recreation Program Instructor
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be age 15+
- Skilled in English both orally and in written communication.
- Work effectively with people and exhibit responsible judgment in different situations.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and organized.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior childcare experience (volunteer or paid) preferred.
- Knowledge of basic sports skills and/or children’s activities.
Recreation Facility Monitor
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be age 15+
- Skilled in English both orally and in written communication.
- Work effectively with people and exhibit responsible judgment in different situations.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and organized.
Desired Qualifications
- Operate registration software at a basic level.
- Ability to maintain and report accurate records.
- Ability to track program participants and equipment use.
Recreation League Scorekeeper
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be age 15+
- Skilled in English both orally and in written communication.
- Work effectively with people and exhibit responsible judgment in different situations.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and organized.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience operating electronic scoreboards at a basic level.
- Ability to maintain and report accurate records such as scores to league coordinator.
- Ability to track program participants and equipment use.
- Basic sports knowledge and the ability to understand basic sport rules.
