Description
The Lead Recreation Instructor is responsible for implementing and facilitating the day-to-day operations of recreational programs and activities.

- Assist with recreational programming of camps, athletics programs, and activities.
- Provide developmentally age-appropriate instruction to program participants.
- Conduct athletic games, activities, tournaments, and camps.
- Explain rules and regulations, keep score, officiate sporting events, and provide assistance as needed.
- Monitor participant play, conduct, and encourage participation.
- Ensure fields and facilities are ready for scheduled programs.
- Monitor the site throughout the program.
- Communicate with staff and program participants in a clear and respectful manner.
- Assist participants in the case of injury or illness; ensure the safety of participants at all times.
- Encourage respect for personal property, equipment, and facilities.

Working Conditions, Physical Requirements, and Aptitudes
- Duties are performed indoors and outdoors, including working in inclement weather, and extreme temperatures.
- Duties primarily performed in a public setting, requiring constant interaction with a variety of people.
- Work effectively with crowds, uncooperative participants during difficult situations, emergency response, and periods of continuous demand.
- Work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays depending on department needs.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older with a valid U.S. driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR and First Aid certifications within one (1) month of hire.
The successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current District policy requirements.
Preferred but not required:
- Experience teaching and/or coaching a variety of recreational activities.
- Basic skill level of activities being offered.
- Experience in programming camps, athletics, or education.
Part-time and seasonal employees receive a free membership to the Fieldhouse during employment.
