Description/Duties & Responsibilities
The City of Santa Clarita has a part-time/seasonal (PTS) position available in the Arts and Events division. Under the leadership of the Arts and Events Supervisor and Coordinator, this position will assist the Facility Reservations team in providing quality customer service for picnic reservations at various park facilities. This position will be responsible for visiting various park facilities within the City as well as working in an office environment.

This position must work Saturday and Sunday up to 16 hours per week in increments of 8 hours shifts; these hours are based on the needs of programming. This position must be available to work, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Answers emergency line and effectively addresses issues and concerns with patrons as they arise
• Monitors picnic reservations at various City locations including enforcing permits, rules, and regulations
• Prepares and posts signage at various park locations for upcoming reservations
• Communicates with bounce houses or food vendors on occasion
• Ensures all City policies, procedures, and protocols are enforced
• Interacts with participants and visitors in person, by phone, and by e-mail
• Reports incidents and accidents and completes incident/accident reports
• Drives to various park locations
• Utilizes the City’s calendar for reservations and field lighting software
• Maintains various forms, logs, and reports
• Attends meetings and training sessions as needed
• Works with other program areas, as requested
• Other activities and duties as directed by Arts and Events Coordinators
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• One year of related work experience working with the public, responding to questions and concerns
• Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License
• Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary will be considered

• Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle conflict, issues, and concerns with youth, teens, and parents

• Ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, equipment, banquet tables/chairs, podiums, stage, and dance floor weighing 40 pounds or more

Before entering upon the duties of employment, all public employees, except those excluded by law, take and subscribe to an oath or affirmation set forth in the California Constitution, declaring them to be Disaster Service Workers in time of need.

In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment.

Part-time, temporary, and season (PTS) workers are at-will. Generally, PTS employees are limited to no more than 999 hours per fiscal year.
