Description
This is a non-exempt position, which is a part-time position designed to assist with the daily and seasonal classes, programs and operational procedures in the Parks and Recreation Department.Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.
Examples of Duties
Assists with a variety of daily and seasonal classes, programs and operational procedures.
Assists in the planning and implementation of special events and activities.
Assists in the acquisition and completion of registration forms for recreation programs offered by the City.
Performs reporting and record keeping duties for grant related activities in the Parks and Recreation Department.
Plans and conducts assigned activities for the Summer Recreation Camp Program.
This position does not have final procurement authority.
Performs other related duties as required and as directed.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation and group activities.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette and procedures.
Ability to maintain complex records and prepare technical reports.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Ability to plan and implement special events, classes, and various activities.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to complete work assignment.
Ability to operate a City vehicle and possess the required license.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other City employees, outside organizations, Broward County Officials, department officials and the general public.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Associates degree in recreation or a closely related field with experience in Recreation, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.
LiveScan Fingerprint Process
Incumbents in this job class are required to undergo a Level 2 Background Screening as required by the State of Florida. The screening includes a photograph, fingerprint-based searches of criminal records nationally, and is performed using the electronic LiveScan process.
Probationary Period
All new employees serve a one (1) year probationary period from date of hire.
Pay Check
Pay checks are issued bi-weekly every other Friday; direct deposit of paycheck required to any banking institution is mandatory.
Part-time and Will Call employees are generally not eligible for City of Plantation benefits unless otherwise required by law.

This position at Jim Ward Community Center will work 20-25 hours per week (M-F), any time between the hours of 2pm-8pm. Additional hours may be scheduled for certain holidays, teacher workdays, and early release days. Are you able to commit to those hours?
