Job Description Summary

The City of Goodyear is looking for soccer referees for the recreational youth soccer program. This position will officiate youth soccer games for ages 5 – 8. This position is required to work Saturdays during fall and spring seasons (fall season runs September – November, spring season runs March – May). This position also performs routine tasks such as field/equipment set up, game supervision, customer service, and field/equipment tear down.

Examination Process

Only a limited number of the most highly qualified applicants meeting the City’s requirements will be invited for an interview. Examination process for this position will include: Panel Interview

Essential Functions

Experience working in a youth/adult sports setting is highly preferred. Experience in playing/officiating/coaching soccer.

A valid Driver’s License is preferred.

Requirements

  • Supervises and implements the execution of an activity, event or program with minimal direction. Exercises the necessary supervision of personnel to meet the needs of the activity, event or program.
  • Communicates to Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Programmer regarding incidents, decisions and issues pertaining to activities, events or programs. Responsible for the completion and filing of accident and statistical reports regarding incidents and issues pertaining to programs, as required.
  • Supervises and implements the distribution, care and use of supplies and/or equipment for assigned programs.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of recreational facilities and equipment to provide a safe and sanitary environment, notifies supervisor of any problems and/or concerns.
  • Ensure City policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are strictly enforced; responds to and resolves complaints; advises and provides assistance to individuals and groups on related recreational problems; assist the general public and responds to their questions, comments, and/or concerns.
  • Performs on-site program inspections and evaluations to ensure compliance with program and city safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains awareness of new developments in the recreation field and offer suggestions to the Recreation Programmer or Coordinator.
  • Attend meetings as assigned. Assist with other recreation programs, as requested. Some positions may require the performance of additional position accountabilities and/or related duties.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
