Job Summary
Participates in the development and implementation of various recreational programs. Plans and presents workshops and mini classes for Oakland County Parks and facilities as well as parks, facilities, and events throughout Oakland County. Supports organizational core values which include diversity, equity, and inclusion; health and wellness; environmental sustainability and natural resources stewardship; fiscal responsibility and organizational excellence. Trains, assigns work, and provides leadership to part-time staff and volunteers during programs and/or special events. Develops and adheres to budgets for programs and special events. Evaluates recreational programs and recommends improvements and/or changes. Maintains related program records. May work weekends and evenings. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicants must:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Parks & Recreation or closely related field. OR
a. Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with any major; AND
b. Have one (1) year of full time Parks & Recreation experience.
NOTE: When assigned to Therapeutic Recreation program – degree must include six (6) credits of therapeutic recreation course work.
NOTE: Applicants possessing transcripts from a college or university outside of the United States will be required to provide documentation of degree equivalency from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (). The degree evaluation will be required for application processing.
2. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.
NOTE: Under federal law, those who operate certain vehicles are required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). When assigned to Mobile Recreation program, persons in this classification may need to possess such licensure.
3. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
