Position
The City of Lakeville is accepting applications for a Recreation Program Specialist. This position is responsible for assisting and implementing a variety of arts center programs with an emphasis on outreach and volunteers.
Hours for this position will be from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday-Friday, with occasional nights and weekends as needed for events. Hours will not exceed 25 hours a week.
Major Areas of Accountability
- Assist with a variety of Arts Center programs including but not limited to adults, youth, families, and special events.
- Oversee and coordinate volunteers for the Arts Center volunteer program.
- Recommend needs for program adjustments to increase or maintain levels of participation through planning, evaluation and researching art trends.
- Assist with scheduling for Arts Center classes and special events.
- Assist with marketing of programs through use of Cable TV, press releases, recreation brochure, performing arts guide, and social media.
- Maintains records including but not limited to attendance, class participation, membership, donors, mailing lists and monthly and annual reports.
- Answer calls and assist in person customers, process program registrations and ticket sales.
- Maintains program supplies inventories, keeping the appropriate supplies on hand for all programs.
- Responsible for balancing cash receipts received from participant registrations and events.
- Performs other routine duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Proficient knowledge in use of computers, Microsoft Office 2016, Adobe Creative Suites, Registration Software.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force;
- Work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking and reaching with hands and arms;
- Work has standard vision requirements;
- Vocal communication is required for conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly;
- Hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound;
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities;
- Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of working experience in the arts.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
